Thank you for visiting my donation page!
I'm participating in the B&O Yorkville Run with a goal of raising 500 for Victim Services Toronto's Trauma Dog Program. You remember Dandy. This is a picture of Dandy now. She's been working with our young clients since January of this year and is doing an amazing job!!
Dandy is attending calls with our counsellors,, with detectives interviewing victims/witnesses and with crown attorneys at the criminal courts. Here's some examples of the amazing work she is doing:
She has provided comfort to several children while giving their video statements to police. In most cases these children were victims of a violent crime such as sexual assault/abuse or witnessed a violent crime
She has provided comfort to several young victims while they give their testimony at court. While they are on the stand Dandy lies at their feet so they can reach down and touch her for comfort
She has attended many group debriefings for individuals affected by crime or tragedy. In these cases Dandy is free to roam the room and provide comfort to those most in need
She has accompanied Crisis Counsellors on scene to comfort young people in their home following a violent crime
The impact Dandy has is immediate and incredible. What is special about Dandy, is that she intuitively recognizes the emotion of the client and responds in a very tender way. She actually licked the tears away when a client was crying.
Our Trauma Dog Program is funded 100% by grants and donations. Any amount you can offer will directly contribute to this incredible program continuing.
Thank you so much for your support!
